I'm studying Journalism, and I’m taking part in the ALIF program because journalism and Arabic is a killer combination and greatly needed. I hope it will help me bridge the gap between the East and the West, which I have made my personal mission in life.

I am majoring in psychology and very interested in the field. Arabic is very important these days and so I feel it is important that I learn it. In addition, I am of Arab heritage and not being able to speak Arabic well is embarrassing for me, so I am also motivated to learn it for that reason.

I am a freshman and I am currently undecided on my major. I am studying Arabic because I want to be able to speak the language of my origin. I enjoy the ALIF program because you meet new people, but you also get to see the same people in class four times a week and develop close friendships.

I am majoring in business. After graduation I want to work for an American company in the Middle East. The Middle East is my native home and I would like to be able to use my American education and enjoy an American salary there. The Arabic language is very important to me. It is a language that I know and if I don't keep working on it, I might lose it.

I'm a junior at MSU majoring in Interdisciplinary Humanities. Arabic is one of my cognates and is the focus of my major. I originally took Arabic to become an Egyptologist but continued because I fell in love with the language and became very interested in Arabic culture. I studied in Cairo, Egypt this past summer and hope to be studying in Alexandria, Egypt this summer. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to be doing after I graduate, but I would like to work for an international nongovernmental organization in the Middle East and hopefully work in the field of international development, using my Arabic skills.

I am junior majoring in Linguistics with a specialization in African Studies. I started studying Arabic as a college requirement but after going to Egypt last summer I've become interested in the culture and the history of the Middle East. I am very fortunate to be a part of the ALIF Program which has provided me with a number of opportunities to pursue these interests.
