Becoming an ALIF Scholar

Interested in being a part of a community of students committed to becoming truly proficient in the Arabic language and Arab cultures while pursuing your college degree? Consider applying to the ALIF program at Michigan State University.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a US citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Meet Michigan State University and ALIF Program admission requirements (see application procedure below).
  • Have an interest in being part of a community of Arabic speakers and sharing this culture at an academic and social level.
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal and educational growth.

Application Procedure

  • Contact the ALIF Program at (517) 432-3941 or email ALIF at flagship@msu.edu to indicate your interest and learn more about the program.
  • Apply for admission to Michigan State University (for application information go to MSU Admissions).
  • All ALIF scholars who want to be considered for a scholarship must apply for financial aid by filling out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form. To get a FAFSA form, go to MSU Financial Aid.
  • Complete an ALIF program application and gather the necessary materials for the application packet.
  • We encourage you to apply as soon as possible and familiarize yourself with the financial aid process at MSU and explore our Guide to Outside Funding Sources.
