Tammam Alwan

I am a third-year Senior majoring in Interdisciplinary Humanities in the College of Arts and Letters. My three areas of concentration are religious studies, history, and Arabic Language and Culture. I'm also pursuing a Muslim Studies Specialty from the James Madison College of Public Policy.

I intend on attaining my MA then PhD, providing me with the ability to teach Islamic Studies, Middle Eastern History, and the Arabic Language at the college level.

I love the Arabic language and greatly enjoy learning it; in addition, it proves absolutely necessary in my field, specifically in that I must be able to read old texts written in classical Arabic. I also feel like learning Arabic serves as a gateway to so many other languages such as Hebrew, Persian (Farsi), Urdu, and Swahili.
